WOZZABOZZA

Terms & Conditions

Last updated 11 August 2026 · Applies to all workers, customers and visitors using WOZZABOZZA.

1. About these terms

These Terms and Conditions govern the use of the WOZZABOZZA platform ("WOZZABOZZA", "we", "us"), a cashless tipping service that lets customers tip service workers in South African Rand (ZAR) by tapping an NFC band or opening a worker tip link.

By applying as a worker, creating an account, or sending a tip, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the platform. This page is maintained by the WOZZABOZZA team and may be updated from time to time; the date above reflects the latest version.

2. Eligibility and accounts

  • Workers must be 18 years or older and legally entitled to work in South Africa.
  • Worker accounts are created by invitation only, after an application has been reviewed and approved by an administrator.
  • You must provide accurate, current and complete information, and keep it up to date in your account settings.
  • You are responsible for keeping your password confidential and for all activity on your account.
  • Accounts may not be shared, sold or transferred. NFC bands and tip links are issued to a single individual worker.

3. KYC, AML and FICA compliance

WOZZABOZZA facilitates payments and is committed to preventing money laundering, terrorist financing and fraud. Our approach is guided by the Financial Intelligence Centre Act 38 of 2001 (FICA) and related South African anti-money-laundering (AML) requirements, together with equivalent obligations in other African markets we may operate in.

Know Your Customer (KYC) verification

  • Before a worker account is approved or a payout is released, we may require identity verification, including full legal name, date of birth, a South African ID number, passport or asylum/permit number, a copy of that identity document, a recent photograph or selfie, proof of residential address, and proof of the bank account being paid into.
  • Bank account details must match the verified identity of the worker. We do not pay out to third-party accounts.
  • Verification is currently performed by manual administrator review. We may in future use accredited third-party verification providers.
  • We may request updated documents at any time, and may re-verify an account periodically.

Monitoring and reporting

  • Tips, balances, withdrawal requests and payouts are recorded and monitored for unusual patterns, such as structuring, rapid deposit-and-withdrawal cycles, or tipping activity inconsistent with a worker's stated role and location.
  • We may delay, hold, decline or reverse a transaction or payout, and suspend or deactivate an account, where we reasonably suspect fraud, money laundering, sanctions exposure, or a breach of these terms.
  • Where required by law, we will report suspicious or unusual transactions to the Financial Intelligence Centre or other competent authority. We are generally prohibited from telling you that such a report has been made.
  • We screen against applicable sanctions and politically exposed person (PEP) considerations, and may decline or exit a relationship on that basis.

Record keeping

  • Identity documents, transaction records and payout records are retained for at least five (5) years after the end of the business relationship or the date of the transaction, as required by FICA.
  • Verification documents are stored in restricted, access-controlled storage and are visible only to authorised administrators.

Failure or refusal to complete verification means we cannot approve your account or release funds held for you.

4. Tips and payments

  • A tip is a voluntary, discretionary gratuity paid by a customer to a worker. Tips are not payment for goods and are not refundable once successfully processed, except where required by law or where a transaction is reversed by the payment provider.
  • All amounts are in South African Rand (ZAR). Card payments are processed by our third-party payment service provider; WOZZABOZZA does not store your full card details.
  • Customers do not need an account to tip. By tipping you confirm you are the authorised holder of the payment method used.
  • A tip is only credited to a worker's wallet once the payment provider confirms the payment as successful.
  • Chargebacks, reversals or failed settlements may be deducted from a worker's wallet balance.

5. Fees

Relevant transaction fees are deducted from each tip before the remaining balance is credited to the worker's wallet. We will give notice before changing the fee structure.

6. Wallets and payouts

  • A worker's wallet balance reflects tips received less any completed payouts. It is a record of amounts owed, not a bank deposit, and does not earn interest.
  • Workers may request a payout of an amount not exceeding their available wallet balance.
  • Payout requests are reviewed and approved by an administrator, and are paid only to a verified bank account in the worker's own name.
  • Payouts may be delayed where verification is outstanding, banking details are incorrect, or a compliance review is in progress.

7. Acceptable use

You may not use WOZZABOZZA to:

  • Launder money, move proceeds of crime, or finance terrorism.
  • Pay for goods, services, gambling, or any unlawful activity.
  • Impersonate another person, or create accounts for people who cannot be verified.
  • Self-tip or circulate funds to inflate earnings or exploit promotions.
  • Harass, coerce or pressure customers into tipping.
  • Tamper with NFC bands, tip links, or attempt to access other users' data.

Breach of this section may result in immediate suspension, forfeiture of disputed amounts pending investigation, account deletion, and reporting to the authorities.

8. Privacy and personal information

We process personal information in line with the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA). We collect the information you provide in your application and account (name, contact details, location, job, photograph, identity and banking information) and transaction records generated through your use of the platform.

  • We use this information to operate the platform, verify identity, meet FICA/AML obligations, process tips and payouts, and provide support.
  • We share information with our payment service provider, hosting and database providers, and with regulators or law enforcement where legally required.
  • Public tip pages display only a worker's first name and surname initial, job title, general location and profile photo. Contact details, identity documents and banking information are never shown publicly.
  • You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information, subject to records we must retain by law.

9. Suspension, deactivation and deletion

We may deactivate or delete an account that is inactive, unverified, fraudulent, or in breach of these terms. Where an account is closed, any legitimate remaining balance will be paid out to a verified bank account once compliance checks are complete. Workers may request account closure at any time by contacting us.

10. Liability

The platform is provided on an "as is" basis. To the maximum extent permitted by law, WOZZABOZZA is not liable for indirect or consequential loss, loss of income, or losses caused by payment provider outages, network failures, lost or damaged NFC bands, or information supplied by users. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited under South African law, including under the Consumer Protection Act.

11. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa. Please contact us first so we can try to resolve any dispute informally. Failing that, the dispute will be subject to the jurisdiction of the South African courts.

12. Tipping as a customer

These terms apply when you send a tip through a WOZZABOZZA worker tip page, whether you tapped an NFC band or opened the link another way.

What a tip is

  • A tip is a voluntary, discretionary gratuity paid by you to the worker. It is not a payment for goods or services, and it is not refundable once the payment provider has confirmed the transaction as successful.
  • All amounts are shown and charged in South African Rand (ZAR).

Payment authority and card details

  • By clicking the Pay button you confirm that you are the authorised holder of the payment method used, or that you have the cardholder's express permission to make this payment.
  • Card payments are processed by our PCI-DSS compliant payment service provider (PayGate PayWeb3). WOZZABOZZA does not store, process or transmit your full card number.
  • You do not need to create an account to tip, but we will collect the name and message you choose to share with the worker.

Confirmation, reversals and chargebacks

  • A tip is only final once the payment provider confirms the payment as successful. Until then the tip may be declined, cancelled or reversed.
  • Chargebacks or payment reversals initiated by your bank or card issuer may be deducted from the worker's wallet. If you have a concern about a tip, please contact us first rather than initiating a chargeback.

Privacy

  • The personal information you enter (name, optional message and payment confirmation) is processed in line with our privacy policy and POPIA. We share only what is needed to process the payment and pass your name and message to the worker.

13. Contact and compliance queries

For questions about these terms, verification requirements, payouts, or to exercise a privacy right, use the contact page. Compliance and suspicious-activity queries are handled by the WOZZABOZZA administrator.

These terms are provided for transparency about how WOZZABOZZA operates and are not legal advice. We recommend having them reviewed by a South African attorney before commercial launch.
